SHOT Show is an Industry-Only trade show, not open to the general public. The only way to get access to the expo floors is with a SHOT Show badge. Companies like Geissele triggers give out free badge holders as swag. But at the Leapers/UTG I came across a super deluxe badge holder and opens into an Admin pouch with plentiful pockets for business cards, pens, and velcro flap for moral patches.
The smart SHOT attendee will head to the Caesar’s Forum Expo on the first day so that they can score a UTG badge holder before they all get snapped up.

New Leupold Mk5 HD 2-10×30
At my visit to the Leupold booth at this year’s Shot Show, I got an opportunity see their newest Mark 5 HD 2-10×30. This scope appeals to that niche of old-school hunters who always insisted that a 3-9x scopes is all you need. But want the extra. This 2-10x scope has the Mk5HD’s bright glass and excellent turrets.
This scope will be releasing soon with a price of $1999 on the Leupold website, perhaps slightly cheaper when on sale on Amazon and select online and big-box retailers. https://www.leupold.com/mark-5hd-2-10×30-m5c3-ffp-tmr
Shot Show 2022: Athlon Optics
I visited the Athlon Optics booth at Shot Show 2022 in Las Vegas where Athlon announced their “Shooting Sports Giveback” promotion.
Athlon is giving away 5 prizes worth $65,000. One winner will be chosen each quarter to receive $10,000 in cash and Athlon products. And if you came in 1st, 2nd, or 3rd using an Athlon scope, you’ll also be eligible for a $25K grand prize. To enter, you have to compete in any shooting sports competition and enter your name and event information on their website: https://athlonoptics.com/giveback/
Unfortunately, Athlon wasn’t ready to premier any new optics in time for the show. They did showcase their new carbon fiber, heavy-duty shooting tripods.
Shot Show 2022: Arken EP-5
In just a handful of years, a small independent optics company in Texas named Arken has earned an almost cult-like reputation among budget build long-distance/ELR shooters for creating high-quality optics for under $500 (now $600). All of their scopes offer features like high-quality zero-stop turrets, dead-on Christmas-Tree reticles, ED glass, and a life-time warranty. They keep their prices low by having a narrow product line and only selling directly form their website and form select local retailers.
Their EP4 and and SH4 scopes have earned rave reviews from some well known PewTubers include Cyclops Joe, Tiborasaurus Rex, and IraqVeteran8888. I’ve been eager to get my hands on one to review. I was fortunate to be able to meet their staff at their booth at Shot Show and get an early look at their newest scope, the EP5.
