CVLife EagleTalon 1-6×24

CVLife is known for making very budget gear. Not crappy junk, but very basic budget gear. The kind of quality you expect from Bass Pro branded accessories. So usable enough for range use, weekend airsoft, or the occasional hunt. I’m not too proud to run a CVlife reflex sight on my 10/22 and a bidpod on my Savage Axis, but it’s not a brand you flex.

This new LPVO surprised me because it’s feature set is actually as good or better than the entry level LPVO’s of other brands. Certainly it’s not as sharp and clear as a Leupold or Vortex LPVO with ED glass. But the image was far more distortion free at 1x than some more premium LPVO’s I’ve tested.

The reticle design reminded me of Trijiicon or the Primary Arms ACSS. The EagleTalon has a SFP Horseshoe of Death and a small chevron (the latter was a wee bit too small IMHO). The reticle was daylight bright, though barely; but still more visible than than many LPVOs I’ve tested.

The turrets are exposed and user resettable. The clicks were a bit mushy feeling but tracked accurately. The magnification was a wee bit stiff even with the included screw-in throw lever. Most notably, the unit came pre-installed with a decent cantilever offset mount (not premo but decent enough that I wouldn’t replace it).

With this optic, CVLife has shown a step up in their quality and features. It’s good enough that I plan to run this at my next falling plates rifle match. Time will tell if CVLife can climb out of their bargain-basement perception. This LPVO with the mount is a good value, and is a good step in that direction.

CVLife 3MOA/65MOA red dot

The CVLife sent me their new tube enclosed red dot sight which may or may not be named the “Eaglefeather”. That name was present in the manual but on Amazon is simply called the “3MOA/65MOA multi-reticle red dot.” “Eaglefeather” isn’t a strong name for a red dot anyway, so I’m just going to call it the “3/65” which such a better name. Even better for a concealed carry micro red dot. They really should hire me to be a brand consultant.

The 3/65 looks a lot like a SIG Romeo5 but has the advantage of a user-selectable reticle, either a 3MOA dot, a 65MOA circle/sunburst, or a combination of the two. It has motion-activation and a 50,000 runtime off a CR2032 coin battery. I comes attached to an AR co-witness height Picatinny mount and comes with a low-rise Picatinny mount should you want to run it lower to your rail.

The 3/65 is fully enclosed tube helped to make this an all weather optic for harsh outdoor conditions. On the top of the unit there are “+” and “-” buttons which control brightness. The “+” button when pressed for 2 or more seconds, cycles through the various reticle styles. In my testing, the 65MOA circle reticles bracketed an 8″ bullseye from 7 yrds, so could be useful in a 3-gun or action shooting matches. The reticle’s adjustments are under Holosun-style flat-head topped turret caps; 1MOA/click that are audible and tactile positive.

In my testing, the unit proved to hold zero even after I accidentally dropped from 5ft onto concrete. Twice. I was attempting to simulate months of range time and abuse by banging the red dot up with my ammo can. When I hit the red dot from the left side, it came off and fell onto the concrete range floor. I remounted it and began to hit it again with my ammo can repeatedly and when I hit it hard from the left side, the red dot again went flying.

I was ready to call the unit or at least a mount a complete fail when I noticed that I had accidentally installed the clamping nut backward on the Picatinny mount. When I hit the red dot from the left side, it lacked the clamping force to say on my rifle and was knocked off. I remounted the red dot to my rifle correctly this time.

Test firing onto a target from 25yrds, I examined my 5-shot groups before hitting the red dot, after dropping it twice, and after reinstalling it and hitting it again. I was shooting off a tripod so not the most most repeatable of a shooting platforms. All three groups looked about equal in size and spread.

Despite my accidentally abuse test, I was surprised that the CVLife 3/65 red dot not only survived but for a budget optic with a street price under $90, this optic performed better than anyone could expect.

CVLife Wolfcovert 6MOA Green Dot

CVLife is known for budget firearms accessories but recently, they’ve really stepped up the quality and design of their optics. The Wolfcovert 6MOA is an affordable RMR cut reflex sight available in red or green dot. It has a 20x28mm lens affording a wider field of view than typical CCW sized micro dots. The 6MOA sized dot and bright green help in acquiring and aiming the dot especially for those new to using dots on their pistols.

But this micro dot can also be paired with CVLife’s riser mount and used on a rifle, shotgun or pistol caliber carbine. CVLife offers these mounts are in 21mm, 23mm, 25mm, and 29mm heights allowing you to absolute or 1/3 co-witness your dot to your iron sights.

The WolfCovert has some premium features like motion-activation and 4-minute auto sleep to conserve battery life. The unit has a stated 50,000hr (10year) battery life. The battery chamber is accessible from the top of the unit so you don’t have to unmount it. It is built with an Trijicon RMR footprint and comes with an RMR to Picatinny and a RMR to Glock MOS adapter.

The reticle can be adjusted using a small flathead screwdriver (a flathead tool is included). The adjustment screws are faintly audible, tactical positive and distinct, with no slop. Each click is 1MOA. In my testing I discovered that the Wolfcovert I received did not hold zero. I contacted CVLife and after sending photos and details about my ammo and rifle (115gr 9mm on Sub2000) they swiftely sent me a replacement. The replacement unit held zero after a 100rnds of testing.

CVLife WolfCovert Multi-Reticle RMR

CVLife offers one of the most affordable multi reticle micro red dots I’ve found. While many budget companies make RMR-style micro sized red dots, almost none allow for the change in reticle style. The WolfCovert allows you to choose between a typical 2MOA red dot, to a 32MOA circle (with a sunburst), or a 32MOA plus red 2MOA red dot configuration.

Personal tastes in reticle design aside, the large 32MOA circle burst benefits shooters with astigmatism (such as myself) who have trouble resolving a pinpoint cleanly. To me most red dots have a smeared or star-burst appearance which can make pinpoint accuracy impossible when not wearing corrective eyeglasses. The unit has 9 levels of brightness and lowering brightness helps improve finer resolution of the reticle. CVLife only offers red illumination but is working on a greed version.

The WolfCovert has some premium features like motion-activation and 4-minute auto sleep to conserve battery life. The unit has a stated 50,000hr (10year) battery life. The battery chamber is accessible from the top of the unit so you don’t have to unmount it. CVLife 360º Swivel Tilt Bipod

CVLife really needs a better name for this bipod. The new CVLife Light Weight 360º Swivel & Tilt Bipod is pretty much a knock-off of the Magpul MOE Bipod save for its name. Like the MOE, the CVLife bipod is with an aluminum alloy frame, covered with blade-like polymer telescoping legs.

The CVLife’s legs give little resistance from it’s stowed position, allowing you to quickly deploy the legs by swinging them downward where they lock into position splayed out below the rifle. Pressing down on the metal button at the top of the hinged leg, unlocks the leg to swing and fold it back for stowage.

The polymer legs have a locking button allowing each leg to extend out along index stops of the the legs metal core. Each leg has a soft rubberized foot pads which are not changeable or adaptable for spikes. Between the legs is a wide knob which loosens the ball joint allowing the bipod to tilt and swivel a full 360º.

The CVLife bipod comes in your choice of black or FDE brown. CVLife sent me a Picatinny 1913 mounting version to test. They also make an MLok and rifle swivel stud attachable version.

In my testing I found the bipod to be stable and quick to deploy with a little practice. It doesn’t have any spring loaded action unlike their knock-off Harris bipod or spring extending legs found in UTG bipods. But the simplicity is often more reliable. That said, I can not as yet report on the durability of the unit but it does appear to be better built than CVLife’s knock-off Harris bipod.

CVLife M-Lok Bipod

The CVLife M-Lok bipod is a Harris-style bipod that retails for about $30 on Amazon (a 1/4 of the cost of a Harris). Its light-weight, aluminum construction features a low-profile mounting head that directly attaches to most AR-style octagonal M-Lok handguards.

The leg design is a copy of a Harris bipod with spring-loaded telescoping legs that deploy by swinging them down from and depressing the locking tab on the legs. Once deployed, the lower leg’s length can be adjusted by locking them onto segmented notches. The feet are rubberized pads, which are held in with rolled pins. I was not able to test if they were replaceable with spikes.

Until recently Harris did no have an M-Lok model but at Shot Show 2022, I was shown a prototype M-Lok bipod which appears similar. But unlike this CVLife bipod, the Harris prototype allows for cant adjustments and play . At the time of this video recording, the Harris M-Lok bipod has not yet been released, nor is it shown in their website. https://www.harrisbipods.com/bipods/

While this CVLife bipod is not as ruggedly constructed as a combat proven Harris, it should prove to be rugged enough to typical range shooters. It is best suited to light recoiling rifles such as .22LR and .223/5.56mm.

Testing on my Ruger Precision Remfire rifle, I was able to keep good groups at 100yrds (well, good enough groups using cheap Federal Champion .22LR cartridges). The bipod proved to be steady and rigged enough provide repeatable performance. Its long term durability will have to be tested over time.

CVLife sent me this bipod to test and evaluate. When comparing performance and price, this bipod is still good value.

CVLife Rifle Slings

Nowadays everybody is customizing and modding out their PCCs, ARs and rifles with red dots, tac lights, thumb clamp rests, bipods, 45º BUIS, and every tactical accessory on God’s green Earth. But one of the most often overlooked rifle accessories is the humble sling. This is probably the most practical accessory for both accurate shooting and transport.

CVLife sent me some samples of their basic nylon slings, including their combo sling-and-swivel mount package. The combo package includes 2x M-Lok compatible QD sling mounts. These H&K-style slings have spring loaded hook ends allowing you to connect them to the QD sling mounts (somewhat redundant) or to traditional non-removable slings and weapons.

Having purchased similar slings in the past and narrow hook openings are a constant issue with these types of slings. These new hooks are an improved design with a cut-out that allows their mouths to open and hook onto larger diameter objects. In addition, these slings have cloth covered bungie ends which provide a little shock absorption.
